Invincibility and hair

Wierd title huh =)

Firstly, I think it's about time to get over thinking that I'm invincible when it comes to my health. Cause let's face it. My body isn't the healthiest and today, it finally hit me that it's all just going to get worse if I don't take care of it now...and it'll make things a lot more difficult for me down the road. So, it's time for me to keep myself accountable and for my friends to keep me accountable as well. My acid reflux has been getting noticeably worse and worse day by day and no amount of medication is helping. So I'm taking it into my own hands. It's time to exercise that sphincter muscle (the one between the esophagus and the stomach) and time to regulate my diet.
Things I need to cut down on eating because it produces acid (for me...maybe not for you):
Simple carbs/sugars (as opposed to complex ones) - anything with monosaccharides and disaccharides...which implicates for me - NO SWEET THINGS ANYMORE. PERIOD. Well, only on special occasions or something like that...
Anything acidic in nature: tomatoes; acidic fruits - grapes, berries, kiwis; the obvious acidic stuff - lemons, vinegar, etc...
Basically, I should stick to alkalinic foods.

Secondly, it's about time to get my haircut. It's getting looooong (don't believe me? look at the recent fall conference pictures =P). But here's my dilemma: Should I let it grow out (and therefore, only get a trim) or should I chop off a couple inches again (I'll never go as short as I did junior year but I might go shoulder length...)? Let me know what you think =).
Hmmm...perhaps the person who's opinion is weighted the most should be Eric =P...well, we'll see what he thinks ;)

  1. Aww, I'm glad you're feeling motivated to take care of yourself! Especially before that lining starts to wear down on your esophagus :-p

I think the best solution for reflux is just pure carbs to soak up the acid :-p For me, a piece of bread works better than a pill!

And I vote for trimming a few inches and letting it grow. Yeah, it'll always grow back.. But we're still young and don't have that much longer to (maturely) have long hair!

  2. hmm, how do you exercise a sphincter muscle? i'd like to see how that works...lol, it seems weird to talk about it, but it'd be cool to actually know how that would work.

on the other hand, i never knew that it was said that it would be more mature to have shorter hair when you got older. i did notice the trend that older women tend to have shorter hair. my mom did follow that...now she's like, WHATEVER. haha, i'll send you pictures they sent me just the other day...they're an interesting bunch.

as for the cut, i dunno...i'd have to think about it. lol, just kidding. sheila's comment makes more sense? why do i have to make this decision?!? haha, in other words...i dunno...

  3. lol...i dunno. I don't really care how my hair looks so I guess I usually just leave it up to the person who does care (at least more than I do).
