My year 2007

I was inspired to do this after reading something like this on a friend's xanga...

My Year 2007

January

• Started the year at Urbana with the start of something new
• Went on a family trip to the Caribbean
• Started work at my dad's clinic
• Missed my friends back in Cleveland a lot
• Started attending a different church than my home church

February

• Visited Cleveland by the grace of God and experienced a lot of firsts =)
• Celebrated Chinese New Year
• Started bartending classes and really enjoyed them!
• Started to lead a English GiG for international grad students at UT with my dad
• Decided to apply to McGill's Interpretation and Translation grad program

March

• Passed my bartending exam after 3 tries
• Visited Cleveland the 3rd time and had some good conversations and had dinner with Eric's parents for the first time
• Stumbled in a big way
• Helped to put on a bridal shower for Sheila =)

April

• Picked up multiple small side projects - senior slideshow, Sheila's wedding
• Started studying for McGill's entrance exam

May

• Graduated with my friends from Case!
• Grandpa had hernia surgery
• Stopped church hopping and decided to stick with my home church

June

• Did a 180 about my future - withdrew my app from McGill and decided to apply for med school after all
• Went to Cleveland to take care of med school stuff
• Found out Grandpa had colon cancer
• Went to CA for a family reunion - had a lot of fun with my cousins playing poker, Wii, watching movies, painting rooms, talking until 5 am, etc
• Attended a Christian conference in CA

July

• Decided to take EMT classes in the fall
• Started studying Romans once a week with Eric
• Helped Sheila with her wedding in DC/Played at a wedding for the first time/Attended the first wedding where I was a bridesmaid!
• Went to Cleveland after the wedding
• Grandfather is in the hospital for 1 1/2 weeks because of chemo and radiation treatment

August

• My grandfather gets saved! =D
• EMT classes started
• Started teaching the youth group Sunday School
• Stopped leading the English GiG because it was just too much

September

• Visited Cleveland around Labor Day
• Finished applying to my 4 med schools - got rejected from 1, played the waiting game for the others
• Grandpa had surgery

October

• Grandpa had another surgery
• Visited Cleveland for Fall Break
• Interviewed with UT-Memphis
• Started EMT clinicals
• Really hard personal battles

November

• Interviewed at Case for med school
• Went to IV's Fall Conference - which gives me a 5-yr streak for not missing one
• Dad had his gastric bypass and an emergency hernia surgery
• Had a wonderful time when Maya came to visit during Thanksgiving break!

December

• finals, practical, etc...blech
• Decided to move to Cleveland and take Maya's spot for next semester
• Went on a Disney cruise to the Bahamas with the family and Eric!

Whew...it's been quite. a. year....I wouldn't say that it was a good year because in many ways, I struggled this year. It was definitely a tough year all around. However, I have much to be thankful for and much to be joyful about after seeing the big picture laid out in front of me like this....Hmmm, maybe I should do this every year? =P It helps to see what God has been doing and what I've been doing with my life.
