Sooo, I'm curious.
Read this article (it's VERY short. Like not even half a page): http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/london/7822924.stm
And I have 2 questions:
1) Would you do this if you were the bride?
2) If you weren't the bride, and the wedding was in your town, would you go?
I don't know my own answers to my questions but I'm very curious about yours! ;)

Another article that was pret-ty interesting.
Rent-a-friend in Japan

For those of you too young to know what chitty chitty bang bang is...it's a flying car.

My big astonishment for the day: Tony Dungy is retiring?! Sad!!! But, I suppose if it's God's will (for I know him to be a strong Christian)...
But still...man, he will be sorely missed :(.
EDIT: I read that news right before small group started so I didn't get a chance to really read or see anything. After I got back from SG, I read everything on espn, comments, blogs, watched the video tribute...and I totally cried. And now I really want to read his book (the one that came out in 2007 I believe). He was so inspirational on the football field. I grew up watching him coach...and I will definitely miss seeing him on the Indianapolis sideline. *sigh*...
i would totally ask my hubby to be to let me have some of his guests on my side!! i don't know if i would want to pay for people i don't know to watch me get married....
ReplyDeleteI would definitely go to that wedding. Definitely.
ReplyDeleteI don't think i would do what the bride did.
ReplyDeletebut i would totally go to a random wedding. esp. if it's a diff. culture. that would be most interesting. :]
Hmm, I would definitely not do it myself, not would I go to the wedding.. I generally always thought attending a wedding was a symbol of approval or support of the couple. And if not support for their decision to marry, a desire to support them and help them through their marriage. I know that's not always practically the case, but I like the idea of it being that meaningful :) So those are my reasons.
ReplyDeleteJoe has a book on tape of the Tony Dungy book if you'd like to borrow it sometime... perhaps to listen to on a nice, long drive to Cleveland? jk ;-)
I don't think I would do what the bride did. Hopefully it's more about the kind of people that are watching you get married than the amount. On the other hand, I might go, only because it seems like it's important to her to fill up the church. I love going to weddings, though, because they're so happy. I wouldn't mind being a part of someone's happy day, if I can lend a hand. However, I do see your point, Sheila. I'm torn.
ReplyDeleteI would totally never invite strangers to my wedding.... I agree with Laura - why can't the groom just share his guests with his poor wife-to-be?
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, I guess I can understand the bride's desire to have people coming only for her... like... even tho they are strangers, they still are only coming because of HER and not the groom. Sometimes its nice to be the center of attention.
Personally though, I'd just save the money for the honeymoon to make up for it all.
Also, Jess, now that Tony Dungee is retired, you should totally cheer for the Steelers :-p. Forget Indianapolis, forget TN... Pittsburgh's got REAL character.
