Remember in my random 25 things list I said that I like to prove people wrong when they think I can't do something? Well, the common stereotype/generalization is that women are bad drivers. I can't say that I've done a very good job in my driving career disproving that but over the past year, I've really been trying quite hard. I don't speed and I don't run "red" lights anymore, not even yellow ones. And I've definitely upped my defensive driving skills too (the drivers here in Memphis are definitely scarier drivers than Cleveland. Pedestrians are scarier too. BY FAR.). I think that the general consensus among my friends is that my scary driving skills won't really change (e.g. speeding, running red lights, etc.). Hopefully, that will prove itself if any of you ever ride in my car again.
I thought this video was funny. Especially the woman who takes 5 minutes and still can't back into her parking space. I'm not putting this on to bash women at all. I'm a woman and I might as well be bashing myself actually. I'll be the first to admit that if I'm not careful, I might do some of those things in the video too. The flip side of it, however, is that male car insurances are still higher than females because our wrecks are like the ones in this video (very low fatality and not THAT much damage). With guys, its more extreme. They either never have a wreck or when they do wreck, it's really really bad. So, I say to the guys, make fun of women drivers all you want but we still have the lower insurance policy.
Sheila, don't watch this if you think it'll scare you from wanting to drive again.
I did watch this - some of it scared me a tad, but most of it just made me feel better about myself - if these people are out on the road, can't I be on the road too!? :-p
