I went to Foot Solutions today cause I had decided a long time ago to get shoes (or insoles) that I could wear for long periods of time without my feet killing me (because I have naturally flat feet). I found out through their examination of my feet that I actually overpronate which means my arch (what little arch I have) actually collapses when I walk causing 4x the amount of pressure on my feet when I walk, run, stand. And because of that, my whole posture is messed up as well. Everything is pretty expensive though (which I expected)...but this is an investment that I'm definitely ready to take. After almost crying from pain at the end of an 8 hr hospital EMT shift, I'm very willing to pay anything to never experience that again.

I read this month's National Geographic today at Border's cause I saw something on tv that sparked my interest for this month's issue. Oh man it's a good issue. I read the whole thing from cover to cover (though it took me about 2 hours =P). I was really moved by the main article about the troubles people and animals alike are experiencing in the Republic of Congo right now. My heart just broke for that area...That country needs Jesus. Badly. For though there is a bit of light here and there...but the light of this world is usually just the lesser of the 2 evils. It can never actually completely eliminate darkness. Only the light that is not of this world can do that.

I've been realizing recently that this journal probably isn't very interesting to most people =). I tend to be quite serious on this journal and rarely is it ever entertaining, funny, or even light-hearted =P. I guess my life is just too serious and not at all that funny, entertaining, or light-hearted. But I'm not really that way in person. I actually really enjoy life. Even the littlest things can fascinate and amuse me. Also, I laugh. A lot actually...at almost everything. And I like to make others laugh (often at my expense =P). This journal, unfortunately, is only successful in portraying one tiny facet of my personality...
lol. I've determined that I have 5 main personality characteristics that make up "Jessica Chen". This journal is only truly successful in expressing 1 of the 5. See if you can guess the others ;)...or if you know me well enough, you might have seen all 5 in action (not at the same time of course...that would be immensely amusing but definitely impossible =P).
i overpronate like a beast when i stand in place because of my flat feet. when i run, it's not as bad(according to them nifty running shoe store sales people). glad you got insoles to protect your feet. protecting the way you absorb shock in your feet go a long way in protecting your knee and hip joints, both of which will thank you later in life :).
