There will be a post to come about my scholarship weekend (I will be giving my whole testimony about this whole journey this Sunday at my parents' new church so I'm currently working on that right now) but I also had some random thoughts this week that I wanted to share...
1) On the drive down to and back from Memphis, my mom had put in a series she had on the End Times messages. The speaker was Mike Bickle (who is the Pastor at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City...Maya, you might find his name familiar) and he spoke on Daniel and Revelations. I had also been studying Daniel at that time during my quiet time so it happened to be a great combination of the 2 and really grew my understanding of Daniel, Revelations, and the bible in general. It was amazing. I haven't finished the series (I have finished studying Daniel however...and am now studying Malachi) but I look forward to it on my drive back to Cleveland =). I also bought a full-set audio bible for me to listen to for my drives...
2) I have a guilty pleasure that I must confess...I have an obsession with the show America's Best Dance Crew. Because they have full episodes on mtv.com I think I've watched and rewatched the show a couple times now. Dance, to me, has always been something of a idyllic dream for me...something on which I couldn't possibly hope to do that well but something that I've always wished I could. I've decided though since today (since I have other things to do) that I can't live in this dream world and wish for things that are never going to be. There is a fine line between appreciating the dancing and obsession.
3) I was watching the movie The American President last night with my dad. I haven't seen that movie in so long...probably at least 10 years or so. It's a pretty good movie...The actors and actresses in there are great. I realized that since the last time I've watched it, I've grown up and now I actually understand the politics and political views in that movie. It was really interesting to re-watch it and gain a whole new understanding of the movie as a whole. The movie came out in 1995 and yet some of the political policies in that movie are some of the most liberal policies even in today's political arena. The writer, Aaron Sorkin, must definitely be a democrat and not only that, a liberal democrat as well and the movie is definitely something he wished the government could do if it were possible just to snap some fingers and make it happen. Of course, in real life, it's not that simple...And so the movie relegates itself to still being Hollywood...a dream.
